Logistics business makes major savings with Atlas.

A strategic ebusiness infrastructure investment has delivered significant cost savings and operational efficiencies for a leading logistics provider.

Oakland International invested in Atlas’ supply chain portal, a web-based application and EDI system that manages ordering and distribution activity.

Explains Dean Atwell, Managing Director at Oakland:
“The Atlas solution reduces manual entry - and its associated errors for all throughout the supply chain. By storing product, pricing and promotion data it enables the purchase to pay cycle to be managed in the cloud. Orders are taken and invoices are produced electronically. This has delivered significant saving in administration costs.”

A 24/7 operation Oakland is a specialist in multi-temperature supply chain services business such serving major retailers and suppliers in the wholesale and convenience markets including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, SPAR, Nisa-Today’s, Lidl, Aldi, Iceland, Booker and Somerfield.

Adds Dean Atwell: “The major retailers communicate their order information electronically using EDI. We send electronic data to them and their suppliers on a daily basis including despatch and stock information.

“The process of receiving orders each morning used to take a couple of quite stressful hours and we sometimes encountered difficulties with our previous system with some orders being lost. This has now been reduced to a few minutes giving us much more time to plan and schedule the day’s operations, improving our customer service.

“The implementation of the Atlas solution was very successful in a tight timescale and now provides Oakland with a robust ebusiness platform that will support the future growth of our business.”
