Atlas selected by top US university to help in the global fight against cyber crime and terrorism
An Atlas security solution has been selected by the National University of San Diego to help train cyber security students on how to best combat cyber crime and cyber terrorism.
Atlas Exchange, a Secure Managed File Transfer (SMFT) system, will be featured in National University’s Master of Science in Cyber Security and Information Assurance (CSIA) program, part of a range of initiatives by US authorities to train more critically needed cyber warriors with the skills to protect both citizens and public institutions from cyber attacks.
The collaboration between Atlas and National University has been facilitated by Dr. Gordon Romney, Professor of Computer Science and Information Systems at National University, the second-largest private, non-profit institution of higher education in California and the 12th largest in the United States.
Work is now ongoing to introduce Atlas Exchange software to the university’s School of Engineering and Technology.
Said Dr Romney: “The Master of Science in Cyber Security and Information Assurance is part of global efforts to ensure the security, confidentiality, integrity, authenticity, control, availability and utility of the world’s computing and information systems infrastructure. As such we are constantly on the lookout for partners with exemplary solutions or technologies that we can work with to deliver the best possible training programs for our students.
“We are delighted to be working with Atlas whose Exchange system is a complete data communications service which provides ultra secure, reliable, data delivery and file transfer,” continued Dr. Romney. “It is an integral part of the CSIA mission ‘to promote secure information systems and data privacy for National University and the world’.
“In addition to the defence and national security context, the program is equally applicable in other important government, public and business environments, such as health, legal, banking and financial services in which total security and confidentiality are fundamental to day to day operations.”
Added Warren Keane, Atlas’ Vice President of North American Operations: “Naturally we are very pleased to be part of these collaborative efforts to promote data security and that National University has recognised the unique nature of our software.
“We look forward to developing the relationship further in the coming months for the benefit of both students at National University and also the wider government and business communities.”
