“There is great potential for our ebusiness solutions in North America.”

Expansion into North America gathers pace

Expansion by Atlas into North America has gathered pace with the appointment of Warren Keane as CEO for the territory.

Warren will be responsible for developing Atlas’s operations in the region from bases in Victoria, British Columbia, Toronto and via a business partner in Quebec.

This follows hard on the heels of an agreement with Lakeshore Data Management (LDM) of Montreal, signed earlier this year, which has seen Atlas’ Exchange solution rolled out to 800 retail outlets with plans for a further 2,200 over the next two years.

The solution uses a unique combination of LDM and Atlas technology embedded in a device that enables ordinary electronic cash registers from Sharp, TEC, Samsung and Uniwell to function as EPOS devices.  As each transaction is completed, the sales information from the retailer is digitally signed, encrypted and transmitted back to the manufacturer.

This provides invaluable information on buying patterns, in particular local trends and preferences, allowing for highly targeted sales and marketing campaigns.

Warren has been showcasing Atlas at recent trade shows including the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) at the magnificent Vancouver Convention Centre.

Commenting on these developments, Atlas MD Allan Gray said: “There is a great potential for our ebusiness solutions in North America and Warren’s appointment, together with our partnership with LDM, puts us in a good position to capitalise on these opportunities.

“Atlas Exchange is ideally suited to meet streamlining business processes and providing the level of management information essential to drive efficiencies, all within a totally secure environment. This solution can be applied to a diverse range of trading scenarios promoting informed management decisions.”
